Acting Offended

Let’s be honest: since childhood, the majority of us have been mechanically and thoughtlessly mouthing the Pledge of Allegiance and the “Star Spangled Banner” while haphazardly looking at everything but the American Flag. To appear to be offended by others breaking this conditioned routine is an act.
I honestly think that in this day and age, it’s impossible for someone to be genuinely offended. If people say they are offended, it’s merely an automatic and spontaneous response to something outside of the ordinary script of life–nothing more.
